HOUSE RESOLUTION NO. 807
Commending the Virginia State Police Association.
Agreed to by the House of Delegates, February 20, 2025
WHEREAS, the Virginia State Police Association, a nonprofit organization that supports the men and women of the Virginia State Police and has helped them fulfill their mission to keep Virginians safe, celebrated its 50th anniversary in 2024; and
WHEREAS, the Virginia State Police Association was established by a small group of charter members who sought to create a clear and unified voice for their fellow state troopers; and
WHEREAS, in spite of opposition, the original members of the Virginia State Police Association forged ahead, meeting in members' homes to develop goals with the overarching mission of being mutually helpful to one another; and
WHEREAS, over the course of its history, the Virginia State Police Association has been deeply devoted to supporting state troopers and their families, providing vital resources and assistance in times of need while building a sense of camaraderie; and
WHEREAS, the Virginia State Police Association has grown to include more than 2,300 members and strives to meet the evolving needs of state troopers, enabling them to continue building stronger, safer communities throughout the Commonwealth; and
WHEREAS, over the years, the Virginia State Police Association has widened its scope to also support community initiatives, schools, and youth-focused charitable organizations; among its many programs, the association supplies troopers with teddy bears to offer to children who have suffered a traumatic event; and
WHEREAS, the Virginia State Police Association projects an image of professionalism, care, and support for the hardworking men and women of the Virginia State Police who have served and sacrificed on behalf of the Commonwealth; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED by the House of Delegates, That the Virginia State Police Association hereby be commended on the occasion of its 50th anniversary; and, be it
RESOLVED FURTHER, That the Clerk of the House of Delegates prepare a copy of this resolution for presentation to the Virginia State Police Association as an expression of the House of Delegates' admiration for its legacy of contributions to the members of the Virginia State Police.
