HOUSE RESOLUTION NO. 820
Commending Magaly Perez-Rives.
Agreed to by the House of Delegates, February 21, 2025
WHEREAS, Magaly Perez-Rives, the Family Learning Center coordinator at Lynbrook Elementary School in Springfield, received the Outstanding School-Based Operational Employee Award for Fairfax County Public Schools' Region 6 in 2024; and
WHEREAS, Magaly Maggie Perez-Rives founded the Lynbrook Family Learning Center at Lynbrook Elementary School, which promotes meaningful parental engagement, as well as fosters connections between students, staff, families, and local organizations; and
WHEREAS, Maggie Perez-Rives serves as the school's Spanish language interpreter, playing a vital role in helping many parents navigate and participate in their children's education; and
WHEREAS, Maggie Perez-Rives' extensive knowledge of the school system coupled with her profound understanding of students' backgrounds has earned her the trust and respect of her fellow teachers and helps empower teachers to be more culturally responsive; and
WHEREAS, Maggie Perez-Rives champions equity for Lynbrook Elementary School students and has developed numerous community partnerships that provide critical resources for ensuring the well-being of all students and families; and
WHEREAS, Maggie Perez-Rives is unwavering in her commitment to forging positive and supportive relationships throughout the Lynbrook Elementary School community and has an outsized impact on the school; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED by the House of Delegates, That Magaly Perez-Rives hereby be commended for receiving the 2024 Fairfax County Public Schools Region 6 Outstanding School-Based Operational Employee Award; and, be it
RESOLVED FURTHER, That the Clerk of the House of Delegates prepare a copy of this resolution for presentation to Magaly Perez-Rives as an expression of the House of Delegates' admiration for her legacy of service.
