1319 WHEREAS, the Larchmont-Edgewater Civic League maintains the historic legacy and unique character of the Larchmont-Edgewater neighborhood in Norfolk while building a strong sense of community among its residents; and

1521 WHEREAS, the Larchmont-Edgewater neighborhood is known for its significant population of military families, and the Larchmont-Edgewater Civic League has gone above and beyond to honor active duty service members, veterans, and those who have given their lives in defense of the nation; and

1723 WHEREAS, the Larchmont-Edgewater Civic League was first established in 1993, but was reinvigorated during the COVID-19 pandemic and has been especially active since 2023, when it held its inaugural Memorial Day Parade, Festival, and Wreath-Laying Ceremony; what began as a small neighborhood event has grown into one of Norfolk's biggest unofficial city events with attendance growing every year; and

19-WHEREAS, the Larchmont-Edgewater Civic League has advocated for numerous traffic safety enhancements in the area, and the organization's commitment to good communication, transparency, and effective leadership have made it the preeminent nonprofit civic organization with a track record of distinctive accomplishments; and

2329 RESOLVED by the House of Delegates, That the Larchmont-Edgewater Civic League hereby be commended for its efforts to support its residents and honor all men and women who have served and sacrificed in uniform on the occasion of its third annual Memorial Day Parade, Festival, and Wreath-Laying Ceremony; and, be it

2531 RESOLVED FURTHER, That the Clerk of the House of Delegates prepare a copy of this resolution for presentation to the Larchmont-Edgewater Civic League as an expression of the House of Delegates' admiration for the association's legacy of achievements on behalf of the military community.
