HOUSE RESOLUTION NO. 853

Commending Khadijeh Aslankhani.

WHEREAS, Khadijeh Malieh Aslankhani, better known as Malijoon to her friends and family, currently of Vienna, celebrates her 100th birthday in 2025; and

WHEREAS, Malijoon was born on March 21, 1925, in Tehran, Iran, to her parents Sahra and Ghambar Aslankhani, and her family included a sister, Robabeh, and four brothers, Hossein, Abdollah, Alireza, and Gholamreza; and

WHEREAS, Malijoon married Ali Reza, together with whom they had one son, Mohammed Bijan Reza, and five daughters, Manijehn, Farideh, Nahid, Noushin, and Shahnaz; 14 grandchildren, Atoosa, Alireza, Saghar, Kamiar, Nasim, Moones, Mahmoudreza, Sam, Sara, Nassim, Moones, Shaya, Mana, and Sarvenaz; and 10 great-grandchildren, Liam, Daria, Armand, Clara, Tala, Mason, Mila, Aiden, Sayna, and Maya; and

WHEREAS, Malijoon has since become a naturalized citizen of the United States of America, and a resident of the Commonwealth of Virginia since the 1980s; and

WHEREAS, Malijoon used American television to learn to speak English, with her favorite shows including Wheel of Fortune and all awards shows, as she is a fan of fashion and celebrations of all kinds; and

WHEREAS, with only a sixth-grade education, Malijoon raised six successful children who became chief executive officers, small business owners, clothing designers, and homemakers; and

WHEREAS, Malijoon is famously known for her fierce independence, unending positivity, and her love of country for the United States of America; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED by the House of Delegates, That Khadijeh Malieh Aslankhani hereby be commended on the occasion of her 100th birthday; and, be it

RESOLVED FURTHER, That the Clerk of the House of Delegates prepare copies of this resolution for presentation to Khadijeh Malieh Aslankhani and each of her children, as an expression of the House of Delegates' admiration for her exemplification of her love for this country.
