HOUSE RESOLUTION NO. 881

Commending Theresa V. Jackson.

Agreed to by the House of Delegates, February 21, 2025

 

WHEREAS, Theresa V. Jackson was inspired by her deep faith and passion for lifelong learning to establish a Christian school in Hampton Roads and founded Greenhill Farms Christian Academy in Norfolk on November 1, 1983; and

WHEREAS, under Theresa Jackson's leadership, Greenhill Farms Christian Academy provided young people with a high-quality education and spiritual guidance in a nurturing environment to ensure that they developed a high intellect along with a sense of integrity, independence, and self-direction; and

WHEREAS, Theresa Jackson has served as an educator for more than 40 years between her service with Norfolk Public Schools and Greenhill Farms Christian Academy; and

WHEREAS, as a founder of Greenhill Farms Christian Academy, Theresa Jackson reached more than 16,300 students with the support of her dedicated faculty and staff; and

WHEREAS, Theresa Jackson helped foster a passion for service and a commitment to excellence in future generations of community and business leaders in the region; and

WHEREAS, while Greenhill Farms Christian Academy closed its doors in 2015, Theresa Jackson's legacy lives on through the students she inspired and the colleagues she mentored, many of whom continue to make a positive difference in the Norfolk community and beyond; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED by the House of Delegates, That Theresa V. Jackson hereby be commended for her legacy of service as a founder and educator of Greenhill Farms Christian Academy; and, be it

RESOLVED FURTHER, That the Clerk of the House of Delegates prepare a copy of this resolution for presentation to Theresa V. Jackson as an expression of the House of Delegates' admiration for her passion for education and more than three decades of contributions to young people in Norfolk.
