AMENDMENT IN THE NATURE OF A SUBSTITUTE

A BILL to direct the Joint Commission on Technology and Science to convene a work group to examine child labor protections for children engaging in the work of content creation; report.

Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Virginia:

1.  1. That the Joint Commission on Technology and Science shall convene a work group to examine and make recommendations regarding child labor protections for children engaging in the work of content creation. The work group shall (i) assess the potential impact of legislation in the Commonwealth relating to such child labor protections; (ii) review current remedies and provisions for children engaging in the work of content creation under existing federal and state law, including trust accounts, conservatorships, and receiverships; and (iii) conduct a national review of such child labor protections in other jurisdictions. The work group shall report its findings and recommendations to the Governor and the General Assembly by November 1, 2025.
