SENATE JOINT RESOLUTION NO. 353
Commending Abigail Rhudy.

WHEREAS, Abigail Rhudy of Tazewell High School won the Virginia High School League Class 2 individual cross country state championship in dramatic fashion in November 2024; and
WHEREAS, Abigail Rhudy took an early lead against and continued to pull away from the competition as the race went on; she ultimately finished with a time of 18:58.3, more than a minute ahead of the second-place runner; and
WHEREAS, Abigail Rhudy's emphatic win was also the first individual state championship for cross country in Tazewell High School history; and
WHEREAS, a talented athlete, Abigail Rhudy has previously won three state titles in indoor track and one in outdoor track; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED by the Senate, the House of Delegates concurring, That the General Assembly hereby commend Abigail Rhudy on winning the 2024 Virginia High School League Class 2 individual cross country state championship; and, be it
RESOLVED FURTHER, That the Clerk of the Senate prepare a copy of this resolution for presentation to Abigail Rhudy as an expression of the General Assembly's admiration for her outstanding athletic achievements.
