15	19		WHEREAS, Michael Alden Breeden of Elkton, a longtime public servant who made numerous contributions to the residents of Rockingham County in a variety of leadership roles, died on December 6, 2024; and

17	21		WHEREAS, Michael Mike Breeden was born in Harrisonburg and had deep family roots in the Shenandoah Valley; he cofounded E.A. Breeden, Inc., in 1980 and provided exceptional industrial maintenance services to the community for many years; and

19	23		WHEREAS, Mike Breeden first took office as a member of the Rockingham County Board of Supervisors in 1999 and represented the residents of Elkton, McGaheysville, Massanutten, and surrounding communities in District 5 for 23 years; and

21	25		WHEREAS, among his proudest achievements as a member of the Rockingham County Board of Supervisors, Mike Breeden oversaw the establishment of East Rockingham High School to alleviate overcrowding at Spotswood High School; and

23	27		WHEREAS, Mike Breeden provided leadership and offered wise insights to several committees and other civic organizations, including the Social Services Advisory Board, the Blue Ridge Committee for Shenandoah Park Relations, the Health and Human Services Steering Committee of the Virginia Association of Counties, the Greater Shenandoah Valley Brain Injury Association, the March of Dimes, the Elkton Community Center, and the Rockingham County Department of Fire and Rescue; and

25	29		WHEREAS, Mike Breeden also served as chair of the Rockingham County Committee of the Blue Ridge Heritage Project, where he played a vital role in preserving the history of families who had been displaced during the construction of Shenandoah National Park; and

27	31		WHEREAS, Mike Breeden enjoyed fellowship and worship with the community as an active member of St. Stephen and the Good Shepherd Episcopal Church; and

29		-	WHEREAS, outside of his career, Mike Breeden enjoyed vintage Cadillacs, Corvettes, and muscle cars, and relished every opportunity to support his children and grandchildren in all their endeavors; and

31	35		WHEREAS, predeceased by one daughter, Emily, Mike Breeden will be fondly remembered and greatly missed by his wife, Peggy; his children, Michael and Kelly, and their families; his parents, Edward and Mary; and numerous other family members and friends; now, therefore, be it

33	37		RESOLVED by the Senate, the House of Delegates concurring, That the General Assembly hereby note with great sadness the loss of Michael Alden Breeden; and, be it

35	39		RESOLVED FURTHER, That the Clerk of the Senate prepare a copy of this resolution for presentation to the family of Michael Alden Breeden as an expression of the General Assembly's respect for his memory.
