1519 WHEREAS, Michael Alden Breeden of Elkton, a longtime public servant who made numerous contributions to the residents of Rockingham County in a variety of leadership roles, died on December 6, 2024; and

1721 WHEREAS, Michael Mike Breeden was born in Harrisonburg and had deep family roots in the Shenandoah Valley; he cofounded E.A. Breeden, Inc., in 1980 and provided exceptional industrial maintenance services to the community for many years; and

1923 WHEREAS, Mike Breeden first took office as a member of the Rockingham County Board of Supervisors in 1999 and represented the residents of Elkton, McGaheysville, Massanutten, and surrounding communities in District 5 for 23 years; and

2125 WHEREAS, among his proudest achievements as a member of the Rockingham County Board of Supervisors, Mike Breeden oversaw the establishment of East Rockingham High School to alleviate overcrowding at Spotswood High School; and

2327 WHEREAS, Mike Breeden provided leadership and offered wise insights to several committees and other civic organizations, including the Social Services Advisory Board, the Blue Ridge Committee for Shenandoah Park Relations, the Health and Human Services Steering Committee of the Virginia Association of Counties, the Greater Shenandoah Valley Brain Injury Association, the March of Dimes, the Elkton Community Center, and the Rockingham County Department of Fire and Rescue; and

2529 WHEREAS, Mike Breeden also served as chair of the Rockingham County Committee of the Blue Ridge Heritage Project, where he played a vital role in preserving the history of families who had been displaced during the construction of Shenandoah National Park; and

2731 WHEREAS, Mike Breeden enjoyed fellowship and worship with the community as an active member of St. Stephen and the Good Shepherd Episcopal Church; and

29-WHEREAS, outside of his career, Mike Breeden enjoyed vintage Cadillacs, Corvettes, and muscle cars, and relished every opportunity to support his children and grandchildren in all their endeavors; and
