2025 SESSION ENROLLED SENATE JOINT RESOLUTION NO. 435 Commending the Langley High School girls' volleyball team. Agreed to by the Senate, February 19, 2025 Agreed to by the House of Delegates, February 20, 2025 WHEREAS, the Langley High School girls' volleyball team of McLean won the Virginia High School League Class 6 state championship on November 23, 2024, at the Stuart C. Siegel Center in Richmond; and WHEREAS, the Langley High School Saxons defeated the Chantilly High School Chargers by a score of 32 to bring home the program's second consecutive state championship and its fourth title since 2013; and WHEREAS, down 48 in the deciding fifth set, the Langley Saxons posted a 90 rally and never looked back, finishing the set 1513 and claiming victory; and WHEREAS, despite losing several starters from last year's championship team, the Langley Saxons regrouped and persevered to continue the program's reign of dominance; and WHEREAS, from twice-daily practices at the start of the season in August, to six practices a week during the playoffs, the Langley Saxons maintained a rigorous training schedule that prepared them to excel in the state tournament; and WHEREAS, the accomplishments of the Langley Saxons are the result of the hard work and dedication of the student-athletes, the leadership and guidance of their coaches and teachers, and the unwavering support of their families and the entire Langley High School community; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED by the Senate, the House of Delegates concurring, That the General Assembly hereby commend the Langley High School girls' volleyball team for winning the 2024 Virginia High School League Class 6 state championship; and, be it RESOLVED FURTHER, That the Clerk of the Senate prepare a copy of this resolution for presentation to Susan Shifflett, coach of the Langley High School girls' volleyball team, as an expression of the General Assembly's admiration for the program's achievements and best wishes for its continued success.
