1319 WHEREAS, Greg May, a deputy with the Craig County Sheriff's Office, was injured in the line of duty while attempting to rescue a woman during Hurricane Helene in September 2024; and

1521 WHEREAS, Greg May has more than 12 years of law-enforcement experience and was hired by the Craig County Sheriff's Office as a deputy and animal control officer on October 1, 2018; and

1723 WHEREAS, on September 27, 2024, Greg May was at the Craig County Courthouse in New Castle when a call came in that a woman on Cumberland Gap Road was trapped under debris amid high winds and heavy rain; and

1925 WHEREAS, Greg May responded to the scene and discovered an overturned chicken coop while searching for the woman; and
