2025 SESSION ENROLLED SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 204 Celebrating the life of Charles Daniel Spruill. Agreed to by the Senate, January 16, 2025 WHEREAS, Charles Daniel Spruill, a longtime civil servant and highly admired youth athletics coach in Seaford, died on July 26, 2024; and WHEREAS, Charles Daniel Danny Spruill grew up in Rocky Mount, North Carolina, and subsequently graduated from Christopher Newport University in Newport News; and WHEREAS, Danny Spruill spent much of his career working for the U.S. Department of the Army as a civilian employee at Fort Monroe, retiring in 2006 after 36 years of service; and WHEREAS, Danny Spruill was best known as a youth football, baseball, and softball coach, who touched countless lives in Newport News and York County through his compassion, inspirational leadership, and dedication to service; and WHEREAS, Danny Spruill was recognized as a pioneer in local youth athletics and helped his players achieve their fullest potential on and off the field; he forged lifelong friendships with his players and their families, often keeping up with their achievements through high school and beyond; and WHEREAS, Danny Spruill also enjoyed boating, fishing, hunting, gardening, and simply spending time with family and friends at his Seaford home; and WHEREAS, Danny Spruill will be fondly remembered and greatly missed by his wife of 30 years, Renee; his children, Candice and Andrew; his stepchildren, Craig and Lindsay; his children and stepchildren's families, including 13 beloved grandchildren; and numerous other family members and friends; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That the Senate of Virginia hereby note with great sadness the loss of Charles Daniel Spruill, a respected member of the Seaford community; and, be it RESOLVED FURTHER, That the Clerk of the Senate prepare a copy of this resolution for presentation to the family of Charles Daniel Spruill as an expression of the Senate of Virginia's respect for his memory.
