SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 232
Commending the Rotary Club of Lake Ridge.
Agreed to by the Senate, February 6, 2025
WHEREAS, the Rotary Club of Lake Ridge in Woodbridge, a distinguished chapter of Rotary International, one of the largest service organizations in the world, has admirably served the Greater Prince William County community for many years; and
WHEREAS, chartered in 1988 as Club 25456 of District 7610, the Rotary Club of Lake Ridge offers its members the opportunity to cultivate lasting friendships, grow personally and professionally, and learn more about their communities and the world while making a meaningful difference in others' lives; and
WHEREAS, the more than 30 members of the Rotary Club of Lake Ridge have shown an extraordinary commitment to the Rotarian motto, Service Above Self, through their various charitable deeds both in Prince William County and throughout the world; and
WHEREAS, the Rotary Club of Lake Ridge raises funds for a number of organizations and programs dedicated to the well-being of young people, including the Court Appointed Special Advocates Guardians ad Litem Association for Children, Woodbridge Senior High School's Junior Reserve Officers' Training Corps program and Interact Club, Belmont and Occoquan Elementary Schools, scholarships for at-risk youth, Leadership Prince William's summer youth academy, Rotary Youth Leadership Awards' summer training camp, and the Manassas Area Rotaract Club for young adults; and
WHEREAS, the Rotary Club of Lake Ridge supports many local initiatives and institutions to uplift the individuals and families of Prince William County, such as Action in Community Through Service, Project Mend-A-House, and the Salvation Army, while also giving generously of their time to run food and coat drives, volunteer at the Hilda Barg Homeless Shelter, and organize Thanksgiving meals and Christmas presents for families in need; and
WHEREAS, beyond Prince William County, the Rotary Club of Lake Ridge has worked internationally to eradicate polio, to develop a water and sanitation project in Gxarha, South Africa, to establish a youth center in Chantal, Haiti, and to support the Middle East refugee crisis, the ShelterBox disaster relief charity, peace-building initiatives, and Rotary Foundation projects; and
WHEREAS, the selfless and indefatigable efforts of the members of the Rotary Club of Lake Ridge have made a profound and lasting impact both in Prince William County and throughout the world; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED by the Senate of Virginia, That the Rotary Club of Lake Ridge hereby be commended for its legacy of service; and, be it
RESOLVED FURTHER, That the Clerk of the Senate prepare a copy of this resolution for presentation to the Rotary Club of Lake Ridge as an expression of the Senate of Virginia's high regard for the organization's contributions to the Commonwealth and best wishes for its future endeavors.
