2025 SESSION ENROLLED SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 241 Commending Grove Christian Outreach Center. Agreed to by the Senate, February 13, 2025 WHEREAS, for more than two decades, Grove Christian Outreach Center has provided vital support services to enhance the health and wellness of people in need throughout the Greater Williamsburg area; and WHEREAS, established as a nonprofit organization in 2004, Grove Christian Outreach Center initially provided food, clothing, and financial assistance, but has expanded its programs over the years to meet the changing needs of the community; and WHEREAS, the Grove Christian Outreach Center has grown from a single trailer that distributed necessities in front of a mobile home park in the Grove area of James City County to a 6,000-square-foot custom built facility that houses a full range of services and programs; and WHEREAS, the Grove Christian Outreach Center organizes numerous food drives, provides a community lunch program for children, delivers meals to homebound individuals, and launched the Williamsburg area's first free food market, the Gathering Place; and WHEREAS, the Grove Christian Outreach Center holds school supply drives for students and has provided holiday meals and gifts to help families in need continue to celebrate their traditions; and WHEREAS, among many programs, the Grove Christian Outreach Center also provides transportation to and from medical appointments and job interviews and offers education on healthy lifestyle choices and financial literacy; and WHEREAS, in 2024, 878 unique households utilized the food pantry at Grove Christian Outreach Center, representing 10,400 visits, and a total of 40,734 people were served through various other programs; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED by the Senate of Virginia, That Grove Christian Outreach Center hereby be commended on the occasion of its 20th anniversary; and, be it RESOLVED FURTHER, That the Clerk of the Senate prepare a copy of this resolution for presentation to Grove Christian Outreach Center as an expression of the Senate of Virginia's admiration for the organization's compassionate contributions to the residents of the Greater Williamsburg area.
