1319 WHEREAS, the Beta Alpha Omega Alumni Chapter of Iota Phi Theta Fraternity, Inc., in Lorton, an affiliate of one of the most prestigious intercollegiate historically African American fraternities in the country, has proudly served the communities of Northern Virginia for many years; and

1521 WHEREAS, since receiving its charter on July 16, 2006, the Beta Alpha Omega Alumni Chapter has actively participated in a number of charitable initiatives both locally and nationally; and

1723 WHEREAS, the Beta Alpha Omega Alumni Chapter promoted the health and welfare of the community through its involvement with the National Institutes of Health's All of Us Research Program and COVID-19 health and safety response forums and by fundraising for St. Jude Children's Research Hospital; and

1925 WHEREAS, the Beta Alpha Omega Alumni Chapter fostered the growth and development of young people through its generous scholarship programs, such as the Command Sergeant Major Karl Roberts Sr. Scholarship and Chief Darryl C. Smith Scholarship; and

2127 WHEREAS, the Beta Alpha Omega Chapter encouraged others to embrace their civic duty through the social media campaign #MuchMoreThanAHashtag and other voter education and registration efforts; and

2329 WHEREAS, in 2021, the Beta Alpha Omega Alumni Chapter established Northern Virginia Impacting Others Through Actions and Service Foundation, a nonprofit organization dedicated to improving the physical, economic, and communal well-being of youth and families in Northern Virginia; and

2531 WHEREAS, in recognition of its service, the Beta Alpha Omega Alumni Chapter has been the recipient of numerous fraternal and local awards, including Iota Phi Theta's Eastern Region Community Service Award; and

2733 WHEREAS, by making a profound and lasting impact in the areas of education, health, and philanthropy, the Beta Alpha Omega Alumni Chapter has helped to make Prince William County a wonderful place to live, work, and raise a family; now, therefore, be it

2935 RESOLVED by the Senate of Virginia, That the Beta Alpha Omega Alumni Chapter of Iota Phi Theta Fraternity, Inc., hereby be commended for its longstanding commitment to the Prince William County community; and, be it
