1212 Statement of purpose of bill as introduced: This bill proposes to provide that 7
1313 stealing a firearm of any value constitutes grand larceny. 8

1515 It is hereby enacted by the General Assembly of the State of Vermont: 10
1616 Sec. 1. 13 V.S.A. § 2501 is amended to read: 11
1717 § 2501. GRAND LARCENY 12
1818 (a) A person who steals from the actual or constructive possession of 13
1919 another, other than from his or her person, money, goods, chattels, bank notes, 14
2020 bonds, promissory notes, bills of exchange or other bills, orders, or certificates, 15
2121 or a book of accounts for or concerning money, or goods due or to become due 16
2222 or to be delivered, or a deed or writing containing a conveyance of land, or any 17
2323 other valuable contract in force, or a receipt, release or defeasance, writ, 18
2424 process, or public record, shall be imprisoned not more than 10 years or fined 19

3030 (1) the money or other property stolen exceeds $900.00 in value; or 1
3131 (2) the property stolen is a firearm of any value. 2
3232 (b) As used in this section, “firearm” has the same meaning as in section 3
3333 4016 of this title. 4
3434 Sec. 2. EFFECTIVE DATE 5
3535 This act shall take effect on passage. 6
