Statement of purpose of bill as introduced: This bill proposes to require the 9
Agency of Natural Resources to implement flood resiliency projects, including 10
floodway creation, selective debris clearing from waterways, restoring flood-11
retaining systems, and supporting riverbank naturalization projects to reduce 12
erosion and improve floodwater absorption. This bill also proposes to allow 13
the Agency to expedite the permitting of cost-effective flood mitigation 14
solutions for faster project implementation and reduced costs. 15
