Subject: Economic development; forestry operations; mechanized logging and 6 
trucking; training  7 
Statement of purpose of bill as introduced:  This bill proposes to direct the 8 
Agency of Commerce and Community Development, in consultation with the 9 
Department of Forests, Parks and Recreation and the Vermont State Colleges, 10 
to establish a Mechanized Logging and Trucking Training Program (Training 11 
Program) to train Vermonters in how to operate and maintain mechanized 12 
logging equipment.  The Training Program also would be structured to allow 13 
participants to obtain a commercial driver’s license.  The bill would require the 14 
Agency of Commerce and Community Development to seek funding for the 15 
Training Program from the U.S. Department of Labor’s Employment and 16 
Training Administration.  Upon receipt of funding, the Training Program 17 
would be established at one or more of the Vermont State Colleges.  18 
Participation in the Training Program would be free of charge or at a reduced 19
