1313 Statement of purpose of bill as introduced: This bill proposes to direct the 8
1414 Agency of Commerce and Community Development, in consultation with the 9
1515 Department of Forests, Parks and Recreation and the Vermont State Colleges, 10
1616 to establish a Mechanized Logging and Trucking Training Program (Training 11
1717 Program) to train Vermonters in how to operate and maintain mechanized 12
1818 logging equipment. The Training Program also would be structured to allow 13
1919 participants to obtain a commercial driver’s license. The bill would require the 14
2020 Agency of Commerce and Community Development to seek funding for the 15
2121 Training Program from the U.S. Department of Labor’s Employment and 16
2222 Training Administration. Upon receipt of funding, the Training Program 17
2323 would be established at one or more of the Vermont State Colleges. 18
2424 Participation in the Training Program would be free of charge or at a reduced 19
