StateofVermont HouseofRepresentatives Montpelier,Vermont ConcurrentHouseResolution H.C.R.58 OfferedbyRepresentativeNoyesofWolcott OfferedbySenatorWestman HouseconcurrentresolutionrecognizingApril18,2025asElectricUtilityLineworker AppreciationDayinVermont Whereas,inthe21stcentury,electricpower,whichisoverwhelminglytransmittedthrough openlyexposedlocalandlong-distanceelectricpowertransmissionlines,isessentialforall aspectsofdailyliving, and Whereas,whenlightning,snow,wind,andothervariantsofdisruptiveweatherstrike,the electricpowerlinesareoftendamaged,posinganimmediatedangertopersonswhoencounter thewiresanddisruptingtheflowofelectricpowertoneighborhoods,entiremunicipalities,and evenlargesectionsoftheState,includingvitalhealthandpublicsafetyfacilities, and Whereas,theseelectricpowerdisruptionstriggertheresponseofthededicatedmenand womenwhoareemployeesofVermont’scooperative,investor-owned,andmunicipalutilities, theorganizationsthat,fordecades,havestriventoprovideallVermonterswithreliable,safe, and,inmorerecentyears,increasinglyenvironmentallyfriendlyelectricpower, and Whereas,theseelectricutilityemployeesmustworkextendedhours,underextremely dangerousconditionsthatrequiretheutmostdegreeofcareandprofessionalism,inatime- pressuredefforttorestoreelectricpowerexpeditiouslyandeliminatedangeroushazardsonthe landscapeandbywaysoftheState, and Whereas,theseindividualsaretrulyunsungheroes,whoseimpactonourdailylivesisoften forgottenandunderappreciated, and Whereas,acrossthecountry,April18isannuallyobservedasNationalLinemanAppreciation Day,andaVermontcommemorationisinorder,nowthereforebeit ResolvedbytheSenateandHouseofRepresentatives: ThattheGeneralAssemblyrecognizesApril18,2025asElectricUtilityLineworker AppreciationDayinVermont,andbeitfurther Resolved:ThattheSecretaryofStatebedirectedtosendacopyofthisresolutiontoeachof thecooperative,investor-owned,andmunicipalelectricutilitiesinVermont.
