AN ACT to create 758.20 (4) of the statutes; relating to: the availability of
information on crimes through the consolidated court automation programs.
Analysis by the Legislative Reference Bureau
Under current law, the director of state courts maintains the consolidated court
automation programs website, which is the statewide electronic circuit court case
management system.  The director of state courts has discretion regarding what
information is available through the CCAP website, with the following exceptions:
1. The director of state courts may not remove case management information
for certain eviction proceedings for specific time periods.
2. The director of state courts must ensure that the CCAP website provides the
Department of Corrections access to certain reporting information.
Under the bill, the director of state courts must ensure that the CCAP website
provides the following information in a searchable format for all crimes: the county
in which charges were filed, the judge assigned to the case, all cases adjudicated by
the judge, and the penalty that was imposed, if any, in the case.
The people of the state of Wisconsin, represented in senate and assembly, do
enact as follows:
SECTION 1.  758.20 (4) of the statutes is created to read:
758.20 (4) For every crime, as defined in s. 939.12, the director of state courts
shall ensure that the Wisconsin Circuit Court Access Internet site provides all of the

following categories of information in a format that is searchable by each category
of information:
(a)  The county in which charges were filed.
(b)  The judge assigned to the case.
(c)  All cases adjudicated by the judge.
(d)  The penalty that was imposed, if any, in the case.
SECTION 2.0Initial applicability.
(1) The treatment of s. 758.20 (4) first applies to case management information
entered before the effective date of this subsection if information regarding the case
is available on the Wisconsin Circuit Court Access Internet site, as defined in s.
758.20 (1), on the effective date of this subsection.
SECTION 3.0Effective date.
(1) This act takes effect on the first day of the 7th month beginning after
publication.
