16 | 16 | | certification, registration, or permit that was granted by another state to apply for |
---|
17 | 17 | | and receive a reciprocal credential in this state. Under current law, an individual |
---|
18 | 18 | | may not engage in certain professions or assume certain titles in this state unless the |
---|
19 | 19 | | individual holds a credential issued by a department, examining board, or |
---|
20 | 20 | | credentialing board with authority to oversee the profession or practice. Current law |
---|
21 | 21 | | requires the Department of Safety and Professional Services, the Veterinary |
---|
22 | 22 | | Examining Board, and any credentialing board attached to DSPS, with certain |
---|
23 | 23 | | exceptions, to issue a reciprocal credential to a service member, former service |
---|
24 | 24 | | member, or the spouse of a service member or former service member who resides in |
---|
25 | 25 | | this state if certain conditions are met. This bill expands who may apply for |
---|
26 | 26 | | reciprocal credentials to include all individuals. The bill does not allow individuals |
---|
27 | 27 | | to receive a reciprocal credential from the Accounting Examining Board or the Real |
---|
28 | 28 | | Estate Examining Board that would grant the holder of the credential a limited right |
---|
29 | 29 | | to practice law in this state, unless the applicant is licensed to practice law in this |
---|
30 | 30 | | state. |
