1313 The people of the state of Wisconsin, represented in senate and assembly, do
1414 enact as follows:
1515 JOINT LEGISLATIVE COUNCIL PREFATORY NOTE: This bill was prepared for the Joint
1616 Legislative Council's Special Committee on State-Tribal Relations.
1717 Current law provides that certain dates must be appropriately observed if they fall
1818 on a day when school is held. If a specified date falls on a Saturday or Sunday, the day
1919 must be appropriately observed on a school day immediately following or preceding the
2020 respective day.
2121 This bill adds Indigenous Peoples' Day to the list of days requiring observance.
2222 Under the bill, Indigenous Peoples' Day occurs on the second Monday of each October.
2323 SECTION 1. 118.02 (12m) of the statutes is created to read:
2424 118.02 (12m) The 2nd Monday in October, Indigenous Peoples' Day.
