Sales Tax Exemption for
Precious Metal Bullion
Under 2023 Wisconsin Act 149, sales of precious metal bullion, defined as coins, bars, rounds, or sheets
that contain at least 35 percent gold, silver, copper, platinum, or palladium, are exempt from sales and
use tax. The sales and use tax exemption does not apply to any other tangible personal property that
contains, in whole or in part, precious metal bullion.
Effective date: March 23, 2024
