| 17 | + | public safety answering points, more commonly known as 911 call centers, for a |
---|
| 18 | + | variety of purposes related to advanced 911 operations, known as Next Generation |
---|
| 19 | + | 911. In addition, under a separate grant program, DMA must award grants to county |
---|
| 20 | + | land information offices for the purpose of preparing geographic information systems |
---|
| 21 | + | data to help enable Next Generation 911. |
---|
| 22 | + | This bill creates an additional grant program under which DMA must award |
---|
| 23 | + | grants to incumbent local exchange carriers operating as originating service |
---|
| 24 | + | providers for the reimbursement of the incumbent local exchange carriers' certain |
---|
| 25 | + | various costs associated Next Generation 911. An “incumbent local exchange |
---|
| 26 | + | carrier” is defined under the bill to have the same meaning as it does under federal |
---|
| 27 | + | law. An “originating service provider” is an entity that provides a service that may |
---|
| 28 | + | be used to generate a request for emergency assistance and that may connect to an |
---|

61 | | - | (1) The department of military affairs shall, by Janu- |

62 | | - | ary 1, 2027, submit to the chief clerk of each house of the |
---|
63 | | - | legislature for distribution to the legislature under s. |
---|
64 | | - | 13.172 (2), a report that includes all of the following: |
---|
65 | | - | (a) A summary of the status of the emergency ser- |
---|
66 | | - | vices IP network required under s. 256.35 (3s) (b). |
---|
67 | | - | (b) A summary of the total amount of grants awarded |
---|
68 | | - | under s. 256.35 (3s) (bx) 2. for each of the following pur- |
---|
69 | | - | poses in each fiscal year that the grant program under s. |
---|
70 | | - | 256.35 (3s) (bx) has operated: |
---|
71 | | - | 1. Reimbursement of incumbent local exchange car- |
---|
72 | | - | riers’ costs associated with the IP−based transport of |
---|
73 | | - | Next Generation 911. |
---|
74 | | - | 2. Reimbursement of incumbent local exchange car- |

75 | | - | riers’ costs associated with the database used to operate |
---|
