2023 ASSEMBLY BILL 548 
2023 Assembly Bill 548 requires the Wisconsin Economic Development Corporation to create an 
advisory body called the Wisconsin-Ireland Trade Commission. Under the bill, the commission has 
seven members: two Senators appointed by the President of the Senate, two Representatives to the 
Assembly appointed by the Speaker of the Assembly, and three members nominated by the Governor, 
and with the advice and consent of the Senate, appointed to serve for two-year terms. The commission 
is created to develop and promote bilateral economic and education development opportunities.  
ASSEMBLY AMENDMENT 1 
Assembly Amendment 1 makes members of the Wisconsin-Ireland Trade Commission subject to the 
same code of ethics that applies to certain public officials and employees.  
BILL HISTORY 
Assembly Amendment 1 was offered on October 30, 2023 by Representative Murphy. On November 2, 
2023, the Assembly Committee on Workforce Development and Economic Opportunities voted to 
recommend adoption of the amendment by a vote of Ayes, 10; Noes, 0; and to recommend passage of 
the bill, as amended, by a vote of Ayes, 10; Noes, 0.
