1111 AN ACT relating to: authorizing certain full-time positions within the
1212 Department of Safety and Professional Services and making an appropriation.

1414 This bill appropriates money for the Department of Safety and Professional
1515 Services to hire nine full-time staff to process professional license applications, eight
1616 full-time staff to communicate with customers and the public, and two full-time
1717 staff to help individuals, employers, and institutions of higher education understand
1818 the credential application and approval process.

2121 The people of the state of Wisconsin, represented in senate and assembly, do
2222 enact as follows:
2323 SECTION 1.0Fiscal changes.
2424 (1) PROFESSIONAL LICENSING STAFF; DEPARTMENT OF SAFETY AND PROFESSIONAL
2525 SERVICES. In the schedule under s. 20.005 (3) for the appropriation to the department
2626 of safety and professional services under s. 20.165 (1) (g), the dollar amount for fiscal
2727 year 2023-24 is increased by $552,300 to increase the authorized FTE positions for

3737 the department by 9.0 PR positions for staff to process professional credential
3838 applications. In the schedule under s. 20.005 (3) for the appropriation to the
3939 department of safety and professional services under s. 20.165 (1) (g), the dollar
4040 amount for fiscal year 2024-25 is increased by $708,900 to provide funding for the
4141 positions authorized under this subsection.
4242 (2) CUSTOMER COMMUNICATION STAFF; DEPARTMENT OF SAFETY AND PROFESSIONAL
4343 SERVICES. In the schedule under s. 20.005 (3) for the appropriation to the department
4444 of safety and professional services under s. 20.165 (1) (g), the dollar amount for fiscal
4545 year 2023-24 is increased by $465,600 to increase the authorized FTE positions
4646 within the department by 8.0 PR positions for staff to communicate with customers
4747 and the public. In the schedule under s. 20.005 (3) for the appropriation to the
4848 department of safety and professional services under s. 20.165 (1) (g), the dollar
4949 amount for fiscal year 2024-25 is increased by $581,800 to provide funding for the
5050 positions authorized under this subsection.
5151 (3) LICENSE NAVIGATORS; DEPARTMENT OF SAFETY AND PROFESSIONAL SERVICES. In
5252 the schedule under s. 20.005 (3) for the appropriation to the department of safety and
5353 professional services under s. 20.165 (1) (g), the dollar amount for fiscal year 2024-25
5454 is increased by $143,000 to increase the authorized FTE positions within the
5555 department by 2.0 PR positions for staff to help individuals, employers, and
5656 institutions of higher education understand the credential application and approval
5757 process.
5858 SECTION 2.0Effective date.
5959 (1) This act takes effect on the day after publication, or on the 2nd day after
6060 publication of the 2023 biennial budget act, whichever is later.
