15 | 15 | | membership organizations, the principal of a public school, including an |
---|
16 | 16 | | independent charter school, to schedule at least one date and time at the beginning |

17 | 17 | | of the school term for representatives of the youth membership organization to |
---|
18 | 18 | | provide information about the organization to pupils during the school day on school |
---|
19 | 19 | | property. Such information may include information about how the organization |
---|
20 | 20 | | furthers the educational interests and civic involvement of pupils consistent with |
---|
21 | 21 | | good citizenship. Examples of these federally chartered youth membership |
---|
22 | 22 | | organizations include Boy Scouts of America and Girl Scouts of the United States of |
---|
23 | 23 | | America. |
---|
24 | 24 | | The people of the state of Wisconsin, represented in senate and assembly, do |
---|
25 | 25 | | enact as follows: |
---|
26 | 26 | | SECTION 1. 118.065 of the statutes is created to read: |
---|
27 | 27 | | 118.065 Federally chartered youth membership organizations. (1) In |
---|

37 | 37 | | (a) “School” means a public school, including a charter school authorized under |
---|
38 | 38 | | s. 118.40 (2r) or (2x). |
---|
39 | 39 | | (b) “Youth membership organization" means an organization identified in |
---|
40 | 40 | | chapter 301, 309, 311, 709, or 803 of title 36 of the United States Code that has an |
---|
41 | 41 | | educational purpose and that promotes civic involvement. |
---|
42 | 42 | | (2) Beginning in the 2024-25 school year, at the beginning of a school term, a |
---|
43 | 43 | | youth membership organization may request that the principal of a school allow |
---|
44 | 44 | | representatives of the organization to provide oral information or written |
---|
45 | 45 | | information, or both, regarding the organization to pupils during a school day on |
---|
46 | 46 | | school property, including information about how the organization furthers the |
---|
47 | 47 | | educational interests and civic involvement of pupils consistent with good |
---|
48 | 48 | | citizenship. |
---|
49 | 49 | | (3) If a youth membership organization submits a request under sub. (2) to the |
---|
50 | 50 | | principal of a school, the principal shall schedule at least one date and time during |
---|
51 | 51 | | the beginning of the school term for representatives of the organization to provide |
---|
52 | 52 | | information as described under sub. (2). |

53 | 53 | | SECTION 2. 119.04 (1) of the statutes, as affected by 2023 Wisconsin Act 12, is |
