| 15 | 15 | | This bill requires that the sheriff of each county in this state establish a plan |

| 17 | 17 | | register to vote and to vote at an election by absentee ballot. The bill requires the |

| 18 | 18 | | sheriff to establish the plan with assistance from the municipal clerk of the |

| 19 | 19 | | municipality where the jail or house of correction is located. |

| 20 | 20 | | The people of the state of Wisconsin, represented in senate and assembly, do |

| 21 | 21 | | enact as follows: |

| 22 | 22 | | SECTION 1. 6.876 of the statutes is created to read: |

| 23 | 23 | | 6.876 Registration and absentee voting while detained. The sheriff of |

| 24 | 24 | | each county in this state shall establish a plan to facilitate the ability of qualified |

| 25 | 25 | | electors who are detained in a jail, as defined in s. 302.30, or a county house of |

| 26 | 26 | | correction to register to vote and to vote at an election by absentee ballot. The sheriff |
