1111 AN ACT to create 146.904 of the statutes; relating to: requiring hospitals to

1414 This bill requires hospitals to provide each hospital patient with a
1515 plain-language, itemized bill that includes an explanation of all charges, regardless

1717 The people of the state of Wisconsin, represented in senate and assembly, do
1818 enact as follows:
1919 SECTION 1. 146.904 of the statutes is created to read:
2020 146.904  Itemized billing required by hospitals.  (1)  In this section:
2121 (a)  “Hospital” has the meaning given in s. 50.33 (2).
2222 (b)  “Patient” has the meaning given in s. 146.81 (3).
2323 (2)  A hospital shall provide to each hospital patient a plain-language, itemized
2424 bill, including an explanation of all charges, regardless of the source of payment.
