16 | 16 | | Wisconsin System students. Current law allows the Board of Regents of the UW |

17 | 17 | | System to charge different tuition rates to resident and nonresident students. |

18 | 18 | | Current law also includes nonresident tuition exemptions, under which certain |

19 | 19 | | nonresident students pay resident tuition rates. This bill creates an additional |

20 | 20 | | exemption for a person who has resided in this state for 12 months immediately |

21 | 21 | | preceding any semester or session in which they register at an institution and who |

22 | 22 | | is in approved deferred action status pursuant to the U.S. Department of Homeland |

23 | 23 | | Security's Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) program. |

28 | 28 | | SECTION 1. 36.27 (2) (cr) of the statutes is created to read: |

29 | 29 | | 36.27 (2) (cr) A person is entitled to the exemption under par. (a) if that person |
---|
