1010 AN ACT to repeal 66.1015 of the statutes; relating to: local rent control and
1111 inclusionary zoning.
1212 Analysis by the Legislative Reference Bureau
1313 Current law prohibits political subdivisions from regulating the amount of rent
1414 or fees charged for residential rental property and from imposing inclusionary
1515 zoning requirements.  Inclusionary zoning requirements are requirements that
1616 prescribe “that a certain number or percentage of new or existing residential
1717 dwelling units in a land development be made available for rent or sale to an
1818 individual or family with a family income at or below a certain percentage of the
1919 median income.”  This bill eliminates these prohibitions.
2020 Because this bill may increase or decrease, directly or indirectly, the cost of the
2121 development, construction, financing, purchasing, sale, ownership, or availability of
2222 housing in this state, the Department of Administration, as required by law, will
2323 prepare a report to be printed as an appendix to this bill.
2424 The people of the state of Wisconsin, represented in senate and assembly, do
