13 | 13 | | Current law prohibits political subdivisions from regulating the amount of rent |

14 | 14 | | or fees charged for residential rental property and from imposing inclusionary |

15 | 15 | | zoning requirements. Inclusionary zoning requirements are requirements that |

16 | 16 | | prescribe “that a certain number or percentage of new or existing residential |
---|
17 | 17 | | dwelling units in a land development be made available for rent or sale to an |
---|
18 | 18 | | individual or family with a family income at or below a certain percentage of the |
---|
19 | 19 | | median income.” This bill eliminates these prohibitions. |

20 | 20 | | Because this bill may increase or decrease, directly or indirectly, the cost of the |
---|
21 | 21 | | development, construction, financing, purchasing, sale, ownership, or availability of |
---|
22 | 22 | | housing in this state, the Department of Administration, as required by law, will |
---|
23 | 23 | | prepare a report to be printed as an appendix to this bill. |

24 | 24 | | The people of the state of Wisconsin, represented in senate and assembly, do |
---|
25 | 25 | | enact as follows: |
