11	11	AN ACT to create 6.34 (3) (a) 14., 6.34 (3) (a) 15., 6.34 (3) (a) 16., 6.34 (3) (a) 17.
12	12	and 6.34 (3) (a) 18. of the statutes; relating to: proof of residence for voter
13	13	registration.

15	15	Under current law, an elector may use any of a number of identifying
16	16	documents as proof of residence in order to register to vote, including a bank
17	17	statement, paycheck, utility bill, property tax bill, check or other document issued
18	18	by a unit of government, or current and valid operator's license or identification card
19	19	issued by the Department of Transportation. Current law provides that such
20	20	identifying documents must specify the elector's name and residential address. This
21	21	bill adds the following to the list of identifying documents that an elector may use
22	22	as proof of residence in order to register to vote:
23	23	1. A W-2 form.
24	24	2. A medical billing statement.
25	25	3. A service welcome letter, such as from a financial institution, utility, or credit
26	26	card company.
27	27	4. An insurance document.
28	28	5. A report card, official school transcript, or certified school record.
29	29	The people of the state of Wisconsin, represented in senate and assembly, do
30	30	enact as follows:

35	35	SECTION 1 ASSEMBLY BILL 924
36	36	SECTION 1. 6.34 (3) (a) 14. of the statutes is created to read:
37	37	6.34 (3) (a) 14. A W-2 form for the current year or the year preceding the date
38	38	of the election.
39	39	SECTION 2. 6.34 (3) (a) 15. of the statutes is created to read:
40	40	6.34 (3) (a) 15. A medical billing statement of a physician or hospital for the
41	41	period commencing not earlier than 90 days before the day registration is made.
42	42	SECTION 3. 6.34 (3) (a) 16. of the statutes is created to read:
43	43	6.34 (3) (a) 16. A service welcome letter, such as from a financial institution,
44	44	utility, or credit card company, for the period commencing not earlier than 90 days
45	45	before the day registration is made.
46	46	SECTION 4. 6.34 (3) (a) 17. of the statutes is created to read:
47	47	6.34 (3) (a) 17. An insurance document for the current year or the year
48	48	preceding the date of the election.
49	49	SECTION 5. 6.34 (3) (a) 18. of the statutes is created to read:
