1111 Analysis by the Legislative Reference Bureau
1212 Under current law, it is a Class F felony to enter a dwelling or certain other
1313 places with intent to steal or commit a felony therein. Under this bill, it is also a Class
1414 F felony to enter one of those places with intent to commit battery that is
1515 misdemeanor battery rather than felony battery. Under current law, the penalty for
1616 a Class F felony is a fine not to exceed $25,000 or imprisonment not to exceed 12 years
1717 and six months, or both.
1818 Because this bill creates a new crime or revises a penalty for an existing crime,
1919 the Joint Review Committee on Criminal Penalties may be requested to prepare a
2020 report.
