11	11	Relating to: honoring the 112th anniversary of the Girl Scouts of the United States
12	12	of America.
13	13	Whereas, March 12, 2024, marks the 112th anniversary of the Girl Scouts of the
14	14	United States of America, which began in 1912 when Savannah, Georgia, native
15	15	Juliette “Daisy” Gordon Low gathered 18 girls to provide them the opportunity to
16	16	develop physically, mentally, and spiritually; and
17	17	Whereas, for 112 years, Girl Scouting has helped build millions of girls and
18	18	women of courage, confidence, and character, who act to make the world a better
19	19	place; and
20	20	Whereas, the award-winning Girl Scout Leadership Program helps girls
21	21	discover themselves and their values, connect with others, and take action to make
22	22	the world a better place; and
23	23	Whereas, the Girl Scout Gold Award, the highest honor in Girl Scouting,
24	24	requires girls to make a measurable and sustainable difference in their

42	42	communities, assess a need and design a solution, find the resources and support to
43	43	make it happen, complete the project, and inspire others to sustain it; and
44	44	Whereas, the Gold Award honors leadership in the Girl Scout tradition, and
45	45	Gold Award recipients have already changed the world as high school students; and
46	46	Whereas, core programs around science, technology, engineering, and math
47	47	(STEM); environmental stewardship; healthy living; financial literacy; and global
48	48	citizenship help girls develop a solid foundation in leadership; and
49	49	Whereas, since its founding in 2000, the Girl Scout Research Institute has
50	50	become an internationally recognized center for original research, research reviews,
51	51	and surveys that provide significant insights into the lives of girls; and
52	52	Whereas, through its expertise and commitment to girls, the Girl Scout
53	53	program is helping each girl to discover that she is a go-getter, an innovator, a
54	54	risk-taker, and a leader; a G.I.R.L.; and
55	55	Whereas, through the dedication, time, and talent of volunteers of different
56	56	backgrounds, abilities, and areas of expertise, the Girl Scout program is brought to
57	57	over 39,000 girls in grades K–12 across the state of Wisconsin; and
58	58	Whereas, today, more than 50 million American women are Girl Scout
59	59	alumnae, 2.5 million girls and adult volunteers are active members, and Girl Scouts
60	60	is the largest member of the World Association of Girl Guides and Girl Scouts, a
61	61	global movement composed of more than 10 million girls in 153 countries worldwide;
62	62	now, therefore, be it
63	63	Resolved by the assembly, the senate concurring, That March 12, 2024, is
64	64	recognized as National Girl Scout Day in W isconsin, and the legislature
