17 | 17 | | Whereas, Earth Day was founded by U.S. Senator Gaylord Nelson of Wisconsin, |

18 | 18 | | who called for a “national teach-in on the crisis of the environment” to be held on |

19 | 19 | | April 22, 1970; and |

20 | 20 | | Whereas, Senator Nelson aimed to send a message to Washington, DC, from |

21 | 21 | | people across the nation that public opinion called for clean water and air and the |

23 | 23 | | Whereas, the first Earth Day motivated 20 million Americans, including 2,000 |
