14 | 14 | | every person's right to life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness and, as such, demand |

15 | 15 | | the establishment of the Economic Justice Bill of Rights; and |

16 | 16 | | Whereas, now is the time to close the historical disparities that have existed for |
---|
17 | 17 | | many disenfranchised Wisconsin communities; and |
---|
18 | 18 | | Whereas, this legislative body is the most diverse legislative body in Wisconsin |
---|
19 | 19 | | history, with unprecedented representation; and |
---|
20 | 20 | | Whereas, with broad support for bold and progressive policy relating to our |
---|
21 | 21 | | current reality, the establishment of the Economic Justice Bill of Rights is essential |
---|
22 | 22 | | to the fulfillment of public service; and |

23 | 23 | | Whereas, the people of Wisconsin, regardless of race, ethnicity, religion, age, |

24 | 24 | | gender identity, sexual orientation, socioeconomic status, ability status, |

25 | 25 | | immigration status, and country of origin, are entitled to the freedoms expressed in |

50 | 50 | | 2. Adequately funded public education and affordable, accessible child care; |

51 | 51 | | 3. A union, public or private, and collective bargaining; |

52 | 52 | | 4. Affordable, accessible, and comprehensive high-quality health care; |
---|
53 | 53 | | 5. A clean, sustainable environment and healthy planet; |
---|
54 | 54 | | 6. Decent, sustainable community infrastructures including safe, affordable |
---|
55 | 55 | | housing, transportation, and broadband; |
---|
56 | 56 | | 7. Equitable access to capital, investments, financial institutions, and |
---|
57 | 57 | | retirement; |
---|
58 | 58 | | 8. A fair, restorative, and equitable justice system; |

59 | 59 | | 9. Recreation and participation in community and civic life; and |

60 | 60 | | 10. Life, self-determination, and freedom from oppressions; now, therefore, be |
