Relating to: recognizing May 3, 2023, as National Bike to School Day.
Whereas, Bike to School Day allows kids, families, and community members
the opportunity to physically participate in the joy of active commuting to school; and
Whereas, Bike to School Day supports and sustains healthy communities with
active students and families and safer streets; and
Whereas, creating safe walk and bike plans with routes to school for active
commuting through collaborative partnerships can lead to policy and environmental
changes in communities; and
Whereas, Bike to School Day supports the whole child approach to academic
achievement through physical activity; and
Whereas, increasing equitable, safe, and accessible biking opportunities for
all—but especially for children from low-income households, Black and Brown
children, recent immigrants, and children who are differently abled—grows
community, supports mental and physical well-being, and strengthens autonomy;
now, therefore, be it

Resolved by the assembly, the senate concurring, That the members of the
Wisconsin Legislature join in celebrating National Bike to School Day.
