99 Whereas, Flag Day is nationally celebrated annually on June 14th,
1010 commemorating the adoption of the flag of the United States; and
1111 Whereas, the flag of the United States is recognized as a symbol of our shared
1212 values as a nation, including liberty and justice for all; and
1313 Whereas, Bernard John Cigrand, a school teacher in Waubeka, Wisconsin, held
1414 the first recognized formal observance of Flag Day at the Stony Hill School; and
1515 Whereas, Flag Day gives citizens of the United States an opportunity to
1616 rededicate themselves to the ideals of our nation's founding and to consider what the
1717 flag of the United States means to them; now, therefore, be it
1818 Resolved by the assembly, the senate concurring, That the Wisconsin
1919 Legislature recognizes June 14, 2023, to be Flag Day.
