2020 Relating to: condemning Hamas' barbaric attack against Israel.
2121 Whereas, on October 7, 2023, Hamas, a United States-designated Foreign
2222 Terrorist Organization, attacked Israel without provocation, murdering innocent
2323 civilians in a ground assault and launching more than 4,500 rockets
2424 indiscriminately; and
2525 Whereas, this heinous attack by Hamas terrorists resulted in the murder of
2626 hundreds of innocent civilians of all ages; and
2727 Whereas, the evil actions of these terrorists resulted in the death of at least 14
2828 innocent Americans, as well as many other foreign nationals; and
2929 Whereas, Hamas terrorists have taken civilians hostage, resulting in the
3030 abhorrent and inhumane treatment of innocent people, including many children and
3131 elderly people; and

4747 Whereas, this massive act of terrorism took place during Shabbat and the
4848 Jewish holidays of Shemini Atzeret/Simchat Torah and one day after the 50th
4949 anniversary of the start of the 1973 Yom Kippur War against Israel; and
5050 Whereas, the Israeli people have suffered a violent attack, clearly designed to
5151 maximize terror and harm to civilians, resulting in the largest mass slaughter of
5252 Jews since the Holocaust; and
5353 Whereas, this attack is yet another instance of the centuries-long persecution
5454 and anti-Semitism that Jewish people have suffered; now, therefore, be it
5555 Resolved by the assembly, the senate concurring, That the Wisconsin
5656 State Legislature condemns the actions of Hamas' barbaric attack against Israel;
5757 and, be it further
5858 Resolved, That the Wisconsin State Legislature calls on Hamas to
5959 immediately cease violent hostilities and return all hostages unharmed; and, be it
6060 further
6161 Resolved, That Wisconsin expresses its condolences and support to all affected
6262 families; and, be it further
6363 Resolved, That Wisconsin stands in solidarity with the Israeli people and
6464 reaffirms its unwavering commitment to Israel's sovereignty and security.
