12 | 12 | | been employed as an entertainer, union leader, corporate spokesman, governor of |

13 | 13 | | California, and President of the United States; and |
---|
14 | 14 | | Whereas, Ronald Reagan served with honor and distinction for 2 terms as the |
---|
15 | 15 | | 40th President of the United States of America; the 2nd of which he earned the |
---|
16 | 16 | | confidence of three-fifths of the electorate and was victorious in 49 of the 50 states |
---|
17 | 17 | | in the general election — a record unsurpassed in the history of American |
---|
18 | 18 | | presidential elections; and |
---|
19 | 19 | | Whereas, in 1981, when Ronald Reagan was inaugurated President, he |

20 | 20 | | inherited a disillusioned nation shackled by rampant inflation and high |

42 | 42 | | Whereas, Mr. Reagan's commitment to an active social policy agenda for the |

43 | 43 | | nation's children helped lower crime and drug use in America's neighborhoods; and |

44 | 44 | | Whereas, President Reagan's commitment to the armed forces contributed to |

45 | 45 | | the restoration of pride in America, her values and those cherished by the free world, |

46 | 46 | | and prepared America's armed forces to win the Gulf War; and |

47 | 47 | | Whereas, President Reagan's vision of “peace through strength" led to the end |

48 | 48 | | of the Cold War and the ultimate demise of the Soviet Union, guaranteeing basic |

49 | 49 | | human rights for millions of people; now, therefore, be it |

50 | 50 | | Resolved by the assembly, That the Wisconsin State Assembly hereby |

51 | 51 | | recognizes February 6, 2023, and subsequent yearly anniversaries thereafter as |

52 | 52 | | “Ronald Reagan Day." |
