1010 AN ACT to create 341.08 (2) (aj) and 343.177 of the statutes; relating to:
1111 emergency contact records maintained by the Department of Transportation.

1313 This bill requires the Department of Transportation to inquire whether an
1414 applicant for an operator's license or vehicle registration wants to provide specified
1515 emergency contact information to DOT. If an applicant provides emergency contact
1616 information, DOT must record that information in DOT's file for the applicant. DOT
1717 must provide a method for a law enforcement agency that identifies a person to
1818 electronically request and automatically receive the emergency contact information
1919 recorded in the person's file.

2222 The people of the state of Wisconsin, represented in senate and assembly, do
2323 enact as follows:
2424 SECTION 1. 341.08 (2) (aj) of the statutes is created to read:
2525 341.08 (2) (aj) A place for the applicant to provide emergency contact
2626 information, which shall include the emergency contact's full name, date of birth,
2727 residential address, phone number, and relationship to the applicant, and a

3636 statement that a form on which the applicant may provide emergency contact
3737 information is available on the department's Internet site and at local examining
3838 centers.
3939 SECTION 2. 343.177 of the statutes is created to read:
4040 343.177 Emergency contact information. As part of every application for
4141 an original, duplicate, reinstated, reissued, or renewal license or endorsement, the
4242 department shall inquire whether the applicant wants to provide emergency contact
4343 information, which shall include the emergency contact's full name, date of birth,
4444 residential address, phone number, and relationship to the applicant. The
4545 department shall make available on its Internet site and at each local examining
4646 center a separate form on which an applicant may provide emergency contact
4747 information. If an applicant provides emergency contact information under this
4848 section or under s. 341.08 (2) (aj), the department shall record the information in its
4949 file for the person. The department shall provide a method for a law enforcement
5050 agency, as defined in s. 165.83 (1) (b), that reasonably identifies a person to
5151 electronically request and automatically receive the information recorded in the
5252 person's file under this section.
