1212 AN ACT to create 20.935 of the statutes; relating to: native prairie and forage

1515 This bill requires state agencies and other state governmental entities to give
1616 preference, where appropriate, to using native prairie and forage plants to benefit
1717 native bees, butterflies, and other pollinators.  The bill requires the Department of
1818 Natural Resources to provide information upon request to support this initiative.
1919 The people of the state of Wisconsin, represented in senate and assembly, do
2020 enact as follows:
2121 SECTION 1. 20.935 of the statutes is created to read:
2222 20.935 Native prairie and forage plants.  (1)  DEFINITION.  In this section,
2323 “state agency" means an association, authority, board, department, commission,
2424 independent agency, institution, office, society, or other body in state government
2525 created or authorized to be created by the constitution or any law.
2626 (2)  INITIATIVE.  Each state agency, where appropriate, shall give preference to
2727 using native prairie and forage plants to benefit native bees, butterflies, and other
