Presidential Preference Primary
Ballots for Military and
Overseas Voters
2023 WISCONSIN ACT 54
Prior law required municipal clerks to mail absentee ballots for the presidential preference primary to
all voters at least 47 days before the Spring Election in April.
2023 Wisconsin Act 54 changes prior law so that clerks must only mail absentee ballots for the
presidential preference primary to military and overseas voters 47 days before the Spring Election.
Clerks must mail all other absentee ballots to voters 21 days before the Spring Election.
Effective date: December 8, 2023
