11	11	AN ACT to amend 119.04 (1); and to create 120.12 (29) of the statutes; relating
12	12	to: paid preparation time for teachers.

14	14	This bill requires each school board to ensure that a teacher's daily schedule
15	15	includes self-directed preparation time of at least 45 minutes or the equivalent of one
16	16	class period, whichever is greater.

19	19	The people of the state of Wisconsin, represented in senate and assembly, do
20	20	enact as follows:
21	21	SECTION 1. 119.04 (1) of the statutes, as affected by 2023 Wisconsin Act 12, is
22	22	amended to read:
23	23	119.04 (1) Subchapters IV, V and VII of ch. 115, ch. 121 and ss. 66.0235 (3) (c),
24	24	66.0603 (1m) to (3), 115.01 (1) and (2), 115.28, 115.31, 115.33, 115.34, 115.343,
25	25	115.345, 115.363, 115.364, 115.365 (3), 115.366, 115.367, 115.38 (2), 115.415, 115.445,
26	26	118.001 to 118.04, 118.045, 118.06, 118.07, 118.075, 118.076, 118.10, 118.12, 118.124,

46	46	SECTION 2. 120.12 (29) of the statutes is created to read:
47	47	120.12 (29) TEACHER PREPARATION TIME. Ensure that each teacher's daily
48	48	schedule includes self-directed preparation time of at least 45 minutes or the
49	49	equivalent of one class period, whichever is greater.
50	50	SECTION 3.0Initial applicability.
51	51	(1) This act first applies to a teacher who is affected by a collective bargaining
52	52	agreement or other contract that contains provisions inconsistent with this act on the
53	53	day on which the collective bargaining agreement or contract expires or is extended,
54	54	modified, or renewed, whichever occurs first.
