| 15 | 15 | | administrator, and professional staff member holds a certificate, license, or permit |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | to teach issued by the Department of Public Instruction before beginning such a |

| 17 | 17 | | position. Additionally, under current law, independent charter schools must ensure |
|---|
| 18 | 18 | | that all instructional staff hold a license or permit to teach issued by DPI. While a |
|---|
| 19 | 19 | | license issued by DPI is not required to teach in a private school, DPI also issues |
|---|
| 20 | 20 | | licenses to teach to teachers in private schools. Under current law, DPI is also |
|---|
| 21 | 21 | | responsible for licensing related to public library personnel. |

| 22 | 22 | | This bill increases the number of positions for DPI by 10.0 positions in fiscal |
|---|
| 23 | 23 | | year 2023-24 and provides $1,000,000 for those positions in fiscal years 2023-24 and |

| 24 | 24 | | 2024-25. The new positions are for licensing school and public library personnel. |
