2023 Senate Bill 525 Assembly Amendment 1
2023 SENATE BILL 525
Administrative rules promulgated by the Department of Transportation limit the degree to which
vehicle windows may be tinted. Senate Bill 525 provides an exemption from these limitations for
vehicles owned by the state or a county, city, village, or town when tinting is necessary for the
protection of personnel, passengers, or equipment.
ASSEMBLY AMENDMENT 1
Assembly Amendment 1 narrows the exemption under the bill to apply only to police vehicles owned by
the state or a county, city, village, or town.
BILL HISTORY
Representative Novak offered Assembly Amendment 1 on February 21, 2024. On February 22, 2024,
the Assembly adopted Assembly Amendment 1 and passed Senate Bill 525, as amended, both on voice
votes.
