2023 Wisconsin Act 251
[2023 Senate Bill 525]
Tinting on Police Vehicles
Administrative rules promulgated by the Department of Transportation limit the degree to which
vehicle windows may be tinted. 2023 Wisconsin Act 251 exempts police vehicles owned by the state or a
county, city, village, or town from these limitations when tinting is necessary for the protection of
personnel, passengers, or equipment.
Effective date: March 31, 2024
