1010 AN ACT relating to: authorizing certain full-time positions within the
1111 Department of Safety and Professional Services and making an appropriation.

1313 This bill appropriates money for the Department of Safety and Professional
1414 Services to hire nine full-time staff to process professional license applications, eight
1515 full-time staff to communicate with customers and the public, and two full-time
1616 staff to help individuals, employers, and institutions of higher education understand
1717 the credential application and approval process.

2020 The people of the state of Wisconsin, represented in senate and assembly, do
2121 enact as follows:
2222 SECTION 1.0Fiscal changes.
2323 (1) PROFESSIONAL LICENSING STAFF; DEPARTMENT OF SAFETY AND PROFESSIONAL
2424 SERVICES. In the schedule under s. 20.005 (3) for the appropriation to the department
2525 of safety and professional services under s. 20.165 (1) (g), the dollar amount for fiscal
2626 year 2023-24 is increased by $552,300 to increase the authorized FTE positions for

3636 the department by 9.0 PR positions for staff to process professional credential
3737 applications. In the schedule under s. 20.005 (3) for the appropriation to the
3838 department of safety and professional services under s. 20.165 (1) (g), the dollar
3939 amount for fiscal year 2024-25 is increased by $708,900 to provide funding for the
4040 positions authorized under this subsection.
4141 (2) CUSTOMER COMMUNICATION STAFF; DEPARTMENT OF SAFETY AND PROFESSIONAL
4242 SERVICES. In the schedule under s. 20.005 (3) for the appropriation to the department
4343 of safety and professional services under s. 20.165 (1) (g), the dollar amount for fiscal
4444 year 2023-24 is increased by $465,600 to increase the authorized FTE positions
4545 within the department by 8.0 PR positions for staff to communicate with customers
4646 and the public. In the schedule under s. 20.005 (3) for the appropriation to the
4747 department of safety and professional services under s. 20.165 (1) (g), the dollar
4848 amount for fiscal year 2024-25 is increased by $581,800 to provide funding for the
4949 positions authorized under this subsection.
5050 (3) LICENSE NAVIGATORS; DEPARTMENT OF SAFETY AND PROFESSIONAL SERVICES. In
5151 the schedule under s. 20.005 (3) for the appropriation to the department of safety and
5252 professional services under s. 20.165 (1) (g), the dollar amount for fiscal year 2024-25
5353 is increased by $143,000 to increase the authorized FTE positions within the
5454 department by 2.0 PR positions for staff to help individuals, employers, and
5555 institutions of higher education understand the credential application and approval
5656 process.
5757 SECTION 2.0Effective date.
5858 (1) This act takes effect on the day after publication, or on the 2nd day after
5959 publication of the 2023 biennial budget act, whichever is later.
