9	9	AN ACT to create 49.45 (9r) (f) of the statutes; relating to: reimbursement under
10	10	the Medical Assistance program for complex rehabilitation technology
11	11	wheelchair repairs and accessories.

13	13	Under current law, the Department of Health Services uses a standardized
14	14	coding system produced by the federal Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services
15	15	to describe certain products, supplies, and services for those submitting claims for
16	16	reimbursement under the Medical Assistance program, which is known as the
17	17	Healthcare Common Procedure Coding System (HCPCS). This bill requires DHS,
18	18	for HCPCS codes relating to complex rehabilitation technology wheelchair repair
19	19	and accessories, to apply a reimbursement rate under the Medical Assistance
20	20	program equivalent to the maximum fee paid in Wisconsin under the federal
21	21	Medicare program, including fees under the KU modifier, if applicable. Under the
22	22	bill, “KU modifier” means a modifier used in the federal Medicare program related
23	23	to an exemption from competitive bidding pricing. The Medical Assistance program
24	24	is a joint federal and state program administered by DHS that provides health
25	25	services to individuals who have limited financial resources.

27	27	an appendix to this bill.
28	28	The people of the state of Wisconsin, represented in senate and assembly, do
29	29	enact as follows:

35	35	SECTION 1. 49.45 (9r) (f) of the statutes is created to read:
36	36	49.45 (9r) (f) 1. In this paragraph, “KU modifier” means a modifier used in the
37	37	federal Medicare program related to an exemption from competitive bidding pricing.
38	38	2. For dates of service beginning on the effective date of this subdivision ....
