1111 AN ACT to create 20.115 (3) (e) and 93.53 of the statutes; relating to: food waste
1212 reduction grants, granting rule-making authority , and making an
1313 appropriation.
1414 Analysis by the Legislative Reference Bureau
1515 The bill requires the Department of Agriculture, Trade and Consumer
1616 Protection to provide grants for food waste reduction pilot projects that have an
1717 objective of preventing food waste, redirecting surplus food to hunger relief
1818 organizations, and composting food waste. Under the bill, DATCP must give
1919 preference to grant proposals that serve census tracts for which the median
2020 household income is below the statewide median household income and in which no
2121 grocery store is located.

2323 an appendix to this bill.
2424 The people of the state of Wisconsin, represented in senate and assembly, do
2525 enact as follows:
2626 SECTION 1. 20.005 (3) (schedule) of the statutes: at the appropriate place, insert
2727 the following amounts for the purposes indicated:

4040 SECTION 2. 20.115 (3) (e) of the statutes is created to read:
4141 20.115 (3) (e) Food waste reduction grants. The amounts in the schedule for
4242 providing food waste reduction grants under s. 93.53.
4343 SECTION 3. 93.53 of the statutes is created to read:
4444 93.53 Food waste reduction grants. (1) The department shall provide
4545 grants for food waste reduction pilot projects that have an objective of preventing
4646 food waste, redirecting surplus food to hunger relief organizations, and composting
4747 food waste. In awarding grants under this section, the department shall give
4848 preference to proposals that serve census tracts for which the median household
4949 income is below the statewide median household income and in which no grocery
5050 store is located.
5151 (2) The department shall promulgate rules for the administration of this
5252 section.
